It is filled with magical mind stretching metaphors and very straightforward but powerful direct suggestions. The book offers a clear description of hypnotic techniques and experiences and their therapeutic potential within the clinical setting. The metaphors have a very magical and soothing quality that would induce the subject to relate to them very easily. The poetic quality of each script gives the client the ability to relate the metaphor to his/her particular issue in a very poignant way. This book not only explains the rationale for every step in the hypnotherapeutic process, it also contains sample scripts for each step. This is a revised edition which incorporates recent research and writings on the role of the unconscious processes, wellness, and positive psychology along with new metaphor scripts and disorders not included in the first edition. There is also a very powerful companion audiocassette for this book called An Orientation to the Trance Experience. It provides a fascinating and instructive demonstration of Neo- Ericksonian hypnotherapy, highlighting the significance of timing, rhythm and pauses. |
